Jazz CD for sale
On a Sunday afternoon in August 2006, Ted Knight gathered some musical friends in his living room.
For years he had wanted to record with saxophonist Paul Magersuppe, and the chance was finally at hand.
With Paul and Ted were David Gibble on trumpet and fluegelhorn, Michael "Pops" Burns on bass, and drummer Jean Bolduc, who came all the way from Tampa just to be a part of the project. Vocalist Evelyn Russell came to do one tune. Glen Rovinelli was enlisted as engineer.
These were people who have known each other for many years. It all went smoothly. and in just a few hours they had eleven tracks "in the can."
Everything was done live to digital multi-track. The only exception was Ted's vocal, The Shadow of Your Smile, which was dubbed immediately afterward. They sat down to sandwiches prepared by Marie, Ted's wife, and then it was all over.
