Come fly with meLisa and Jerry love flying, almost as much as
they love each other. Dedicated professionals who work together restoring fabric-bodied light aircraft,
they planned the wedding of their dreams around an aviation theme.
Friends Carol and Joe offered to host the affair
at their home at Tailwinds, a private airstrip community in Jupiter, Florida. The ceremony and reception would take place in
the hangar attached to the house, giving the caterer easy access to the kitchen. The
bride and groom's plane would await them on the "dance floor," the
apron just outside the hangar doors.
Lisa
had seen Ted's big band the previous October at the annual pancake breakfast
held at Lantana
Airport. Jerry's company is based at the airport and they're both swing
music fans. Thrilled with the sound of his band, she spoke to him about playing
for her wedding.

Party time
The big day arrived. Lisa was
lovely as she walked down the aisle to the sound of Ted's keyboard. The
vows were spoken and then it was party time.

While the caterer reset the room for dinner,
guests moved to the patio for cocktails as Ted's combo played "unplugged" swing and jazz.

Dancing to jazz and standards
Lisa and Jerry had their first dance to "Love Is
a Many-Splendored Thing." They had asked Ted to play the standards, and he was
happy to oblige. People enjoyed songs like "Embraceable
You" and "Satin Doll," and Frank
Sinatra's "Come Fly With Me" was naturally a big hit.

Later, the band
played uptempo jazz. Saxophonist Paul Magersuppe was featured on "Shiny
Stockings" and "Cherokee," and Ted sang "You're Gonna Hear From Me."
Blue
Hawaii
As
Randy Sonntag's trumpet kicked off "Like Young," the band's theme
song, the bride and groom waved goodbye, climbed into the cockpit, and took off
on a honeymoon trip to Hawaii. Guests received colorful model airplanes to take
home as table favors. On their return, Lisa wrote, "We were so
happy to have you play for us and everyone loved it and keeps commenting on it!"
