| Ray's been playing his mellow tenor sax with
the Ted Knight Quartet for more than twenty years. On ballads, his sensitive
style shines like a pearl caressed softly in velvet, but he can also swing
with the best of them. Give him the green light on a number like "Route 66"
or "Rock Around the Clock," and watch him go. In fact, back in the 1950s and
60s, Ray was the sax man called on for most of the rock and roll
record dates in his home town of Philadelphia.
Ray learned long ago it doesn't have to
be loud to be good, so he lets the music speak for itself. Ted loves to tell
how, because of space limitations, he and Ray once played within arm's
length of the nearest diners at La Vieille Maison, the French restaurant in
Boca Raton, and the guests were still able to enjoy normal conversation. No
wonder their music is recommended by the management. Click titles to hear
