Knight
Music Combos
Not every party or wedding calls for a full orchestra. Ted Knight leads a variety of specialized combos to suit any occasion.
The Ted Knight Quartet plays a mix that starts with jazz but can also include a variety of other styles.
The group includes tenor sax with piano or keyboard, bass, and drums, real instruments playing without recorded backgrounds. Ted sings, and additional vocalists are also available.
Add
trumpet for the Ted Knight Quintet. The quintet has released their
first CD, a collection of jazz standards. The album features
saxophonist Paul Magersuppe,

The
Dixie Ramblers are a
traditional New Orleans style group that plays Dixieland jazz with a
beat for dancing. The full band includes trumpet, trombone, clarinet,
piano, bass and drums. The group is also available as a strolling trio
with trumpet, banjo and tuba. Click images to enlarge.
A duo or trio is often the right choice to play for a party, or to
play for cocktails before the full band begins. At right, Ted with
guitarist Bob Hanni. Ted and Bob have played for corporate gigs in Key
Largo, Palm Beach and Naples, and they've done two St. Patrick's Day
parties at a luxury condominium in the town of Gulf Stream.
At
left is Ted with saxophonist Ray Oram. They played for a 60th
wedding anniversary at Benvenuto Restaurant in Boynton Beach, an
intimate gathering of about 20 family members and close friends. Drums
would have been too much, but they added bassist Ed DeMatteo for a
trio that was just right.
The usual lineup of
the Ted Knight Trio is
piano, bass and drums. This traditional combination is appropriate for
any occasion, and Ted's vocals add to the group's versatility.
Ted
loves to play Christmas music. He did holiday parties with
his trio in Ft. Lauderdale and West Palm Beach for the law firm of Akerman Senterfitt.
He did a Christmas party with singer Evelyn Russell for a West Broward
County office building. At left, he's at the piano for a Christmas party
held at a house in Palm
Beach.
The retirement community of Abbey Delray South has called on Knight Music for special music on several occasions.
He brought the Happy
Wanderers for an Oktoberfest party, pictured at right. The Dixie Ramblers
have played
there on the Fourth of July. He did a Hawaiian party with
Miami musician Bobby Whitlock on Hawaiian guitar. His combos have played
for Christmas parties at Abbey South, and he's played solo keyboard for
their tree lighting ceremonies
Knight Music can also refer mariachi bands, steel drums, bagpipes, and other specialties.
