Ted
Knight leads the band on keyboard, guitar and vocals.
Jamaican-American guitarist
Eugene Grey joined up with
Ted in 2007.
Drummer Larry Ruda
has been with the band since the early 80s. He listens to
everything from Led Zeppelin to Count Basie. Larry's conga drums
add a nice touch on Jimmy Buffet numbers.
Bassist
Harry Hafferkamp is pictured singing lead on Mr.Tambourine
Man. He toured with a Byrds tribute band for a year, and
he's played with country bar bands, classic rock groups and
island music duos.
Cool
cats
Crosswind played a dinner-dance for the
Adopt a Cat Foundation
at the Palm Beach Gardens Moose Lodge. The band featured
pop and rock standards from the 50s to the 80s, songs like
Kansas City, Proud Mary, and Old Time Rock and Roll.
Country from Johnny Cash and island music from Bob Marley
rounded out the program. Everyone had fun, and the
event raised thousands of dollars to help local cats find homes.
Miami
fund-raiser
Crosswind played as a trio for the
Transplant Foundation
at Archie's, a restaurant at
Mary Brickell Village in Miami.
Tunes
included James Taylor's Shower the People,
Bob Marley's Jamming, and the Eagles' Hotel
California. At right, some rock and roll girls enjoy
Eugene's solo on Pretty Woman.
Board chairman Dr. Ivan Gomez
especially liked Oye Como Va, and executive director Eli Compton called the music "excellent."
Ted has a special connection with the Transplant Foundation. His
wife Marie received a heart transplant at Miami's Jackson Memorial
Hospital in 2005, and her new heart is going strong. Ted encourages
people to support organ transplantation by attending the
foundation's annual
Emerald Nights gala.
