Wedding at Bal Harbour
The wedding of Ted Knight's daughter, Jennifer, was scheduled for October 22, 2005 at the Sheraton Bal Harbour in Miami Beach. This was the same day and the same place that Hurricane Wilma was forecast to come ashore.
Wilma stalled and came ashore on the Gulf coast instead, but there was no way to know that ahead of time. Last-minute scrambling by Jen's mother and the hotel caterers moved the wedding to the 21st and saved the day. Amazingly, almost everyone was able to change their plans and come a day early.
A
private family ceremony was held on the beach the night before. The
bride was barefoot, and very much in love with her new husband, Phillip,
a U.S. Navy lieutenant.
Harpist Yumiko Endo and cellist Oliver Schlaffer played for a dinner held after the beach ceremony.

The
following night, the ceremony went off without a hitch. Arthur
Abney's string trio played for the wedding ceremony and for cocktails.
Then it was time for dinner and dancing. Click images to enlarge.
Evelyn
Russell sang At Last for the first dance. Tom Willis rocked the
house with All Right, Okay, You Win, and did a smoldering
version of Let's Get It On.
Saxophonist
Paul Magersuppe
led the band so Ted could enjoy being father of the
bride.
Ted danced with his daughter to Jennifer Juniper, a
Donovan number that he sang to her when she was a little girl.
Later,
Ted joined the band to sing Jennifer Juniper himself, which
brought the young couple and their friends to the floor for a kind of hippie.
Ted
followed up with
Jailhouse Rock, which rocked the house.
Dave Gibble played trumpet. Tom Pizzi did a fine job on keyboard in Ted's place, and Glen Rovinelli handled sound. Later, Jen said her friends called it a great band, and that everyone had a lot of fun.
