Weddings
with the Convertibles
When a bride from Delray Beach planned her wedding at the oceanfront Delray Beach Club, she knew she didn't want the usual wedding band.
The club referred her to Ted Knight. He told her about The Convertibles, a band he formed to play more of the rock and roll he loves. She said that sounded like exactly what she was looking for, but only if the group could play a special request for her dance with her father - Duke of Earl, his favorite song. Ted told her that taking care of special requests like that is a specialty, and the date was booked.
The
band wore tuxedos for a formal look, but the mood was all fun. They band did a great job on Duke of Earl,
and the bride and her father had a ball.
Later, during the dinner set, saxophonist Paul Magersuppe was featured on Wink and a Smile by request. It's a song from Harry Connick, Jr. featured in the movie When Harry Met Sally. Paul also played a killer version of Europa.
For
a wedding in Vero Beach, the Convertibles showed their versatility with
Fly Me to the Moon for the bride and groom's first dance, followed
by Led Zeppelin's All of My Love for the father-daughter dance,
and Stand By Me for the groom and his mother. Everyone
danced to Old Time Rock and Roll as well as Earth Angel,
a special favorite of the groom. See the
song list.
With guitar, bass, drums, optional sax, and Ted Knight on keyboard and vocals, the Convertibles are an affordable wedding band that people of all ages can enjoy.
