The World's Smallest Big Band

Ted Knight's most popular group includes trumpet, sax, keyboard and drums, with optional bass and guitar. It's a big band sound, true live music without recorded backgrounds.

The mix includes pop and rock as well as jazz and standards. See the song list.

Ted sings from his keyboard and added vocalists are another option. Hear demos.

Above, the group plays for New Year's Eve at the Little Club in Gulf Stream. The mostly older crowd enjoyed Old Time Rock and Roll just as much as In the Mood.

At left, the band plays the hora for a wedding in Tampa. Earlier Ted sang Sinatra's The Way You Look Tonight, and trumpeter Matt Schuler sang Mustang Sally. One older gentleman, a member of the bride's family, was heard to say it was the first wedding band he had enjoyed in 20 years.

Ted hired his own band to play for his daughter's wedding in Miami Beach, with Tom Pizzi on keyboard and saxophonist Paul Magersuppe calling the tunes. At right, Ted sings Jailhouse Rock while Jen and Phillip dance with their friends.

Sometimes bigger is better

For bigger weddings and parties, the World's Smallest Big Band can be upgraded to the Ted Knight Orchestra. This group plays the same variety as the smaller group, but with four horns instead of two. At left, the orchestra plays for 350 people at the annual gala for Berkeley Preparatory School in Tampa.
